During the first half of the year, this blog has been devoid of new content. The introduction of Canvas has kept those of us engaged in communication on all things learning and teaching in the Business School pretty busy. Some of you may also have noticed that ILT’s social media accounts are now far more active than they’ve ever been, and that takes a bit of time and TLC. However, this post constitutes a promise that the second part of 2016 is going to be much richer in articles, events, videos and other communications!
From June onward, we’ll be posting content from monthly seminars presented by teaching staff on timely learning and teaching issues and topics. Our first, in April, saw Garry Miller from engineering address the University’s approach to continuity in the event of a large-scale disaster or event, and in May we heard from Education’s Brian Marsh on ways to deliver audio feedback to large classes. This month our own Alex Sims and Alan Toy from Commercial Law will talk about Crowdmark, an online platform for making marking more efficient and effective. Monthly seminars run on the final Thursday of the month, at 1pm. Reminders are posted throughout the month to the Business School and interested learning and teaching staff across the University.
Readers can also expect more blogs and videos produced right here in the Business School, with a particular focus on how digital disruption is impacting the tertiary sector and our work more locally.
To aggregate all of this great content, we have three newsletters planned. These create a handy single hit of articles, videos and social media links, all focused on learning and teaching issues and tips.
Finally, readers can look forward to our annual Learn Do Share event in September. This half-day retains a focus on teaching technologies and allows teaching staff to share what’s worked for them, how, and why.
In the meantime, don’t feel shy to engage with our daily social media posts which deliver tips and information from around the web that we think is useful for anyone engaged in tertiary teaching, as well as content made right here in the Business School.
As always, if you have any queries on anything learning and teaching please get in contact with us.
